Release Notes

Build Inspect V3

Backing up reports:

  •  Previously, reports were backed up to the cloud whenever a report was generated.
    • You can now work offline and generate pdf’s without an internet connection. As a result reports will not automatically back up when generated. Please note, you must back up reports before logging out or reports will be lost (including fully completed reports).
    • There are several ways for you to back up a report:
      • On the home screen, select a report, then click the 3 dot menu in the top right corner and select backup report.
      • Within the report – select the “hamburger” button on the left hand side and select backup.
      • From the view report tab – select backup report.
    • Removing automatic back ups will also assist users who are working across multiple devices.
      • For users working across multiple devices, they need to check the timestamp of the version from the OTHER device, before making edits to their own version. If it’s more recent, then download the newer version.
    • Reports which have not been backed up are flagged on the home screen with a red cloud to the left of the report name.
    • If a backed up report is opened and amended the red cloud icon will reappear reminding you to back up the amended copy.

New Annotation Screen:

  • Due to cross platform functionality (iOS, Android and PC) a new annotator was required that would work across all platforms.
  • New annotation features include:
    • Multi-line text.
    • Text background colour (easier to read text).
    • Variable line thickness.
    • Ability to resize and rotate saved annotations by ‘pinching’ the image with two fingers.
  • Annotations can be deleted by first saving your annotations (using the save icon), then holding and dragging annotations to the top middle of the screen and releasing it over the bin icon when it is highlighted red. Please note, the bin icon will only appear once you press down on an annotation and start to drag it.

Compressing Images:

  • Images are now stored in higher resolution for clearer reports.
  • Images are now compressed when they are added to a defect. This reduces the time to generate reports, but as a result, you may notice a slight delay when importing multiple images at once.

Image Library:

  • Users will need to allow ‘full access’ to their photo library when prompted by the app.
    • For iOS, access permissions can also be changed at any time by going to Settings -> Apps -> Build Inspect -> Photos -> ‘Allow Full Access’.
  • The album library structure within the app will look slightly different to your devices default library album. Despite this, all your folders will be selectable from within the app.

Support:

  • To send a support request, select Support from the “hamburger” button on the home screen.
  • To help us address your support questions as quickly as possible, please do not delete the “[V3] ” from the start of the Subject line.

Reports in Build Inspect V2:

  • V2 reports will remain available in Build Inspect V2, but will not be available in V3.

Migration:

  • Custom defects, custom summaries and templates created post 2nd migration on Saturday 8th of November 2025 will not be bought across to the new app.
